- MEET TARA -

Tara is the incredible woman behind the successful lifestyle blog, TheWholeTara.I must start off by saying she is one of the sweetest people I've met on this journey - I've followed her blog since her SkinnyByTara days, and I've watched her transform into a beautiful force of body positivity, travel, and lifestyle inspiration. I had the pleasure of meeting up with Tara a few times on her quick trips to NY from Miami, and each time felt like catching up with an old friend. Vibrant, intelligent and kind, here is Tara:

Q: How did you get started?A: I started for fun on Facebook around 5 years ago just posting my personal food and yoga pics. It started to catch on, so from there I created an Instagram, a blog, and got my yoga teacher certification!

Q: What's a typical day like?A: Every day is different as a blogger. Some days are jam packed I forget to even put make up on, and other days are so relaxed I don’t know what to do with myself. A typical day will start with a workout (whether it be a light walk or fitness class) followed by some phone or in person meetings with brands, occasional recipe developing, and planning content for my social pages.

Q: Favorite part of being a blogger?A: The freedom!!! I have so much trouble working under a boss, so this gives me all the space I need to get everything done on my clock.

Q: Most challenging part of being a blogger?A: Probably all the extra time, haha. I have a lot of time on my hands and don’t have a daily structure.

Q: What would you be if you weren't a full-time blogger?A: I would probably be working for a creative agency creating content for brands on the brand rather than influencer side.

Q: Any unexpected hobbies you have outside of the wellness realm? Hidden talents or passions?A: I love to read. There was a time I read a book a day! I also crave adventure, and love to travel and eat exotic foods. :)

Q: How is Bali?A: Bali is amazing. Bali is filled with good vibes and tons of fun. I’ve been twice already and have to say that it gets better every time. There are a bunch of expats there and cool people to connect with, not to mention all of the yummy food.

Q: Advice for aspiring bloggers?A: Be consistent. Don’t give up. It takes time.

Q: Advice for traveling on a budget?A: You can always stay at hostels or travel with a few friends and split the airbnb or hotel. Also find local spots to eat, since those are usually priced for the locals, not tourists.

Q: Advice for feeling stuck?A: Get out of your head and do what it is you want to do the least in that moment. Go for a walk, listen to music, and remind yourself that it’s just a funk you’re in.

Q: What's your sign?A: I’m an Aries. We’re crazy. :)

Q: Last song listened to?A:Stargazing by Jus Jack.

Q: Favorite indulgence?A: Pizza. Pasta. Oreo ice cream.

Q: What was high school Tara like?A: She was driven and ambitious. She was a tennis player and extremely mature (maybe too mature) for her age. I never liked to do teenage stuff, I considered myself an adult already. I think it’s also the Aries in me to want to be super independent and do my own thing.

Q: How long did it take for your blog to take off?A: It took a good 2-3 years. It wasn’t always a hit, and it was hard at first to explain to people what I did. Now I feel like it’s pretty mainstream though.

Q: Quote you live by?A: I have a few, but I love these two. “Love her, but leave her wild.” “Let the ocean worry about being blue.”

Q: Describe your style in 3 words?A: Edgy. Sophisticated. Fun.

Q: Favorite yoga brands?A: I love Prism Sport, Splits 59, and Michi to name a few.

Q: Importance of self love and acceptance?A: So important. The first relationship you must have is with yourself. To love your body and accept your flaws is such an empowering thing. I strive to share body positivity all across my blog and social media because right now media is so focused on that “perfect” airbrushed body. We need change.

Q: Anything else?A: I have a recipe app that can be found here and be sure to follow on Instagram @TheWholeTara. Thank you, Jules. You’re a gem. :)
