Tour our Living Room & Lounge | Modern, Minimal, and Cozy
Welcome to my living room and lounge tour!
Currently, the house is tidy, it’s a nice sunny day, so it felt like a good day to give you a tour of our living room and our lil “cafe” lounge area - as we like to call it. It’s been a long time coming for a reveal of these two areas in particular, so I’m very excited to share!
The living room is like the heart of our home, where we relax on the sofa after a long day, binge-watch our fave shows, eat most of our meals, read books, play games, entertain guests, and do all sorts of fun stuff.

The Living Room
Couch - This couch was a splurge for us. I’ve always wanted a white couch and while some people might think it’s impractical with dogs and people (aka kiddos) shuffling in and out of the house, I thought long and hard about it. I researched the best performance fabrics, what would clean well but still look elevated. I ended up going with the Crypton fabric. And so far, it’s been great! We do have the bottom cushions covered with king-size blankets from Target — it wasn’t the plan to have it covered 100% of the time, but honestly, I think it looks great and it gives us a lil peace of mind.
Throw pillows - I used to be so big on throw pillows but let’s face it, they always end up on the floor anyways! So this time, we kept it minimal.
Rug - This West Elm rug is a 9x12 , and has been super durable. We’ve had our fair share of spills, but it’s always come out pretty seamlessly. It’s been a worthwhile purchase that I would easily make again.
Coffee table - I’m in love with our 54” coffee table! We like to eat most of our meals here when it’s just the two of us, so I knew I wanted to find something pretty large. I have several floor cushions, so when we have guests over it’s really cozy to gather here, play board games, watch movies, eat some good food, and do puzzles. I love it.
Dog crate - This is one of Clover’s many places to rest, and it doubles as a cute side table! If you’re looking for a functional, but aesthetic crate, I think it’s beautiful.
Entertainment Center
Besta floating TV stand - Okay… this is probably my favorite (truly favorite!) part of our home. This is the area of our home that I look at and think, “Wow, I can’t believe this is our home”. This entire mounted/floating TV stand is from IKEA. We had plans to do a big, custom built-in entertainment center, but after getting quotes, it was way more than we wanted to spend (like $10,000+). I did some digging on Pinterest and found this Besta TV stand being used and customized in so many different ways. Somehow the nook ended up being the perfect width to fit two Bestas side-by-side. The doors are also from IKEA!
This entire entertainment center cost around $850, a huge savings! And honestly, I love what we ended up with sooo much more than what we were planning to do custom! We did have to do some DIY mounting to make sure it was super sturdy — we might have alllllmost hit a pipe, but we didn’t, and that’s what matters!
The mood lighting below our entertainment center is from the brand Wiz. It has an app where you can schedule when it turns on/off as well as customize the color, warmth, and brightness. It gives this whole space a warm, cozy feeling. Such a good vibe.
Frame TV - We’ve had this TV since we moved to Austin, but upgraded to the 65-inch in this house. I don’t know a lot about TV but I just love how flat and flush this one is, and that can add artwork or photography to it. Right now, we have photos displayed that Andrew took in Korea.
I wanted this space to feel open, relaxing, and sentimental.
The Decor
I have a mix of coffee table books, vases, ceramics, and plants in my decor. To me, this area seems like the most elevated part of our home, AND it was the most affordable!
When it comes to decor, something I really appreciate about my home is that we have photos and art that hold meaning to us. This is something we've never done before. My partner and I have moved every few years, so we usually prioritize functional decor over sentimental items. However, this home feels more personal and sentimental than our previous places, and it feels really good.
We bought a woven piece of art in Korea, and recently had it framed at Michael's to display. We also framed some photos from Korea through Framebridge. If you plan to send photos to get framed, be sure to get anti-glare.
The Lounge
a.k.a “Matcha Haus Cafe” 🥹
This was one area that took some time to figure out. It was originally shown on the floor plan as a formal dining room, but we didn’t want another table that we will barely use. We love our dining area in the kitchen (check out my Full Kitchen Tour for more), and didn’t feel the need for another.
So, what to do? After living with it as an empty space for a while, we decided to make it a cozy spot to read, drink matcha, or a cocktail/mocktail — and we use this area quite a bit, especially when we have fam and friends over (which is often!)
Lounge chairs - I highly recommend these chairs! They are compact, don’t take up a lot of space, and super comfortable and well-made.
Jute Pouf - This is from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, but it’s currently sold out on their website! Clover like to lounge on this, or you can put your feet up.
Woven rug - This is a 7’6”x9’6” jute and cotton mix rug. It was super affordable and has held up well. I like that it’s neutral and light. It ties in this space well.
Marble side table - This piece used to be our side table at our first apartment in Austin, and with each place we’ve moved to, it’s always found a spot in our home. It’s the perfect little side table for your coffee or matcha.
Arch mirror - This was a splurge, but it’s one of those pieces I knew I wanted before we even moved into this house. I knew I’d find a spot for it.
Plant stand - Y’all know I love to decorate with plants, and the green adds in some good texture and color to this space.
Credenza - This was a splurge! This is such a beautiful piece that I hope we have forever. I store a cake stand, wine glasses, and serving platters in here. It’s nice having a place to store things that we save for hosting and parties.
Final Interior Design Thoughts
I’ve really enjoyed make this house into a home the past year. This is the first time I’ve really designed something on my own, and I’m grateful Andrew was cool with me just running with it! Creatively, it was so fulfilling. Interior design is so fun, and a good outlet to let your personality come through.
