Be Fearless in Pursuit of Your Dreams

In September 2015, I made the pivotal decision to quit my job that ignited a transformation in many aspects of my life. Sometimes it takes ripping off the bandaid... baptism by fire, if you will. It inspired this post - "Design a Life You Love". Routine is comfortable - we become experts. It's easy, because we know exactly what to do, how to do it, and what is expected of us. But, when does routine begin to stunt our growth? This is what I couldn't live another day with.

Fast forward five months, and I am happy to say I made the right decision. What does "right" even mean? Well to me, it's about doing what maybe feels uncomfortable and impossible at the time, but deep down you know you need to do it.

I quit my job, packed my bag (literally, one bag), and spent an entire month in Nicaragua [more about that here]. Towards the end of the month, I had real fears about coming home, because I had no idea what was next. For two weeks upon my return to NYC, I was suspended in uncertainty. I felt pressure to quickly secure a job, but I also wanted to make sure to find the right job (to prevent another cycle of me wanting to flee to Central America - hah). In reality, two weeks was not that long, and I ended up with two different job offers from equally awesome companies. Cool. *Pro-Tip: If you ever find yourself without a job, relax. You WILL be employed again, and you'll look back, wishing you enjoyed the freedom!

My point is, don't let fear of the unknown hold you back from growing.

Go out there and put your boss-pants on. Be fearless in pursuit of all of your hopes, wishes and dreams. Why? Because you owe it to yourself to live the best life imaginable! The most successful life does not equal fame, number of followers, or endless cash flow. It's knowing that you conquered your fears, put yourself out there and pushed yourself to your highest potential. Even if your passion projects don't take off like you'd hope, you will transform and you will unfold new hopes and dreams. That's the beauty of life - what we desire is always evolving, as it should be.

When I catch myself losing confidence or mentally shrinking, I realize I'm only hurting myself. You have to believe in yourself before anyone else will believe in you.

Aside from career, I used to love with caution. I feared getting close to someone, and it not working out. It's exhausting to date, fall in love, breakup and have to start all over again, right? Sure, but in order to find your honey, you have to approach each new experience as a step in the right direction. If you're guarding your heart too carefully, you'll kill the bud before it even has a chance to blossom. I encourage you to love fearlessly. If you feel it failing, and you believe it's worth saving, then save it. Otherwise, let go of what is not serving you. Relationships are hard work, but overcoming differences is part of the fun.

Move away from the wall, and try that handstand girl. Attend an acro-yoga workshop. Spray paint that table gold. Finally see if short hair suits you. Start that blog!

Do what makes you happy, and it will pay off.

Let me know in the comments below what you are doing to overcome fear - what are your dreams and how will you achieve it? Share it publicly and you will hold yourself accountable.

With love and light, Jules x
